Spreading My Wings

Updated: Feb 18

Some people remember what they wanted to be when they were younger. I remember laying on the front lawn with my sisters watching giant puffy clouds float by and dreaming about our futures. As a young girl I wanted to be so many things. I wanted to be a mother, a writer, an artist, a musician, a dancer, a teacher, and a world traveler.

As a mom, the best thing in the world is waking up to see my little girls excited faces, so full of great expectations and excitement for each day. I want to give them many opportunities to dream. I also want to mirror the same enthusiasm that they do in every aspect of my life. Being a mom is the toughest job in the world and the most meaningful. I have done a lot of incredible things in my life, but the most important is this one. I still want to travel the world and do all the things I dreamed about, but with this team that I built. I still want to write and that's why I developed this blog so I could write wherever I go and wherever God sends us.

Over the past several years, it seemed my wings had been clipped and I have had to make some real hard adjustments. This year, I got incredibly sick and in the midst of that my beloved mom passed away unexpectedly and very quickly my life changed, again. I wished and prayed a million times that she was still here with us. She was the best of us. She had so much faith and courage more than I seen in any other person. She was fearless. I think it was because she had five strong-willed children and she had to be to keep us in line. I also know that she had to overcome great adversity as a young girl and she did it with God's help and her faith community. Faith communities are so vital in helping to maintain and build the next generation. Sometimes you have to craft your own and sometimes you are lucky to be born or adopted into one. A good faith community is one that prepares you for the world we live in and encourages you to keep spreading your wings and keep soaring.
