Life is a Cruise Ship. Just keep Sailing Along.

I absolutely love cruising. It doesn't matter if it is a long or a short cruise. Prior to having my children cruising was my primary love language. Sailing away with my extended family and my spouse was quite remarkable. The memories we created will be remembered forever. I absolutely loved being surrounded by beautiful ocean water and feeling the warm sun on my skin. The gorgeous weather literally made life problems just melt away. The overall experiences were quite magical.

For the past few years, as a mom of two youngsters I have thankfully learned how to bring the magical cruising experience to my everyday life. It all begins with craving out time to embark on your own magical experience alone or with others. I have some quick tips to help you get started.

  1. Take time off from work, school, or whatever you need a break from. The length of time or the time of year doesn't matter. It could be something as quick as a weekend excursion dedicated to bringing you peace and tranquility. What matters is that you take time to rest in your preferred style.

  2. Have a positive mantra that will help you to focus on feeling happy and relaxed something like, "Hakuna Matata" which means no worries or troubles in Swahili. Using this phrase or a similar one whenever worries creep up could help you to get back into the relaxing mode.

  3. Find creative ways to relax or have fun no matter where you are today. It all begins with a positive outlook. Looking for opportunities to slow down or to reenergize is key to longevity. Taking micro or macro breaks are necessary to recalibrating yourself. Doing nothing is doing something.

  4. Choose a location that works best for you. The location doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you are taking a staycation at home or relaxing poolside. In the end it's all good. It is what brings you happiness and everyone is different.

  5. Make space in your experience to go outside in nature. Green time is so rejuvenating. Taking a hike, eating lunch at a park, or taking a stroll at the marina are some of the neat experiences that you can do anytime.

  6. Take time for yourself is paramount to reenergizing your mind and your body. Temporarily taking time to sit in a garden, going to the beach, or rock climbing can help you pamper your spirit. Doing something you love regularly and having a playlist of fun vacation tunes can help you get into the vacationing mood.

  7. Don't underestimate the power of a day trip. Day trips can be fun and amazing. Taking a day to relax on a day cruise, to go shopping, visit a museum, take a quick road trip, or sightsee can bring you lots of joy. You can accomplish a lot in a day. Sometimes a short experience is enough.

  8. Wear your vacation clothes even when you are not on vacation can help you to unwind. Instead of keeping your best clothes for special occasions enjoy your best items today.

  9. After a day of fun or a day of relaxing, family meal times can be a great way to unwind, make additional memories, and help you catch up with the people you love.

  10. Finally, pre-prep your meals or have your meals delivered. Set the table. Make or grab a cool refreshing beverage from your favorite "locale" and relax to the rhythm of ocean sounds can make you feel like a million bucks after a long work week.
