Tea Time with Georgia Gilmore at Montpelier Mansion

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

Please enjoy. Happy Viewing.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to revisit Montpelier Mansion for the Women’s Day Tea on Saturday, March 19, 2022. It was a delightful experience. I felt like a queen for the day. I got to meet some wonderful ladies and I learned so much about Georgia Gillmore, an African American woman who was able to fund the Montgomery Bus Boycott for 365 days during the civil rights movement right from the back of her home. She and her friends baked delicious meals of fried chicken and baked goods to people like Robert Kennedy and President LB Johnson who came to her home. This was an incredible feat.

This is a great way to bless the organizations, churches, and home businesses we support. Lord knows, even though I don't have this gift, I know that there are many women of faith who can just bake and craft away. Keep baking and crafting.

After the tea I was able to tour the mansion and see some incredible wood carving art. They were selling the art so I encourage you if you are local to go on by to view and purchase. Please check the website for museum hours. This is located in the Mansion. *

There will be upcoming teas in April and May more information will be on funforchrist.org soon or visit prince george's county park and planning website: Montpelier for more information. They had a strawberry vanilla tea that was heavenly and the delicious tea sandwiches and pastries were divine. They were able to accommodate me since I am gluten free but I brought along my homemade banana bread just in case. As I sipped on my tea gazing at all the wonderful people around me taking in the incredible views, and art work I was was able to count my blessings and pray for blessings. I sure felt all the weight of the world just dissipate. I highly recommend a visit. God sure knew what He was doing when he built this place it is a hidden gem and well worth it. This was a great place to retreat and have some down time.

There are many great historical places like Monteplier Mansion in Prince George's County and in Maryland so I encourage you to plan a visit soon. I am looking forward to visiting them as I proceed throughout the year.

Great job Montplier Great Job!

*I will upload photos at a later time for those of you who live aboard or out of state.

Special Thanks:
