Seeing Opportunities

Updated: Mar 21, 2023

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.”

Vivian Greene

I have the above quote posted in my kitchen and it has helped shape my outlook on life as a parent. Life as a parent is always full of storms and sometimes before you can fully awaken in the mornings you are in the midst of a torrential thunderstorm. Recently I wasn't quick enough to wake up fully energized, happy, and ready to tackle the day. When I did I had two fully supercharged little human tornadoes crying and screaming; throwing demanding words and emotions at me like thunderbolts.

All I needed was five more minutes of quiet before my alarm rang...just five more minutes...five. I'm not sure about the rest of you super parents but I took those five minutes. They were LOUD and full of heightened emotions but I took them while considering my options. I could give in or I could send in reinforcements. That's exactly what I did. I sent in reinforcements. Thank God for big sisters they can make all the difference. Everyday I am learning new ways to dance in the rain and each season I have added new moves to my parenting dance. I'm so grateful that God has sent us Jesus who can calm the sea and walk on water. It is so reassuring to know that He walks with us and is with us through all the storms and seasons of this life.
