Photo Gallery of National Museum of African American History & Culture

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

Please join me on a photo gallery tour of the African American History & Culture Museum located on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

My family and I were elated to be able to visit the museum in February. We had eagerly awaited for over five years and it was well worth it. The structure is quite impressive and it holds a magnitude of African American artifacts that show the impact and influence of African American people in the United States and around the world.

There was a floor dedicated to showing the influence of African Americans in Music and Sports.

This museum and its numerous displays and artifacts are quite impressive. It was very enjoyable to reminisce and connect with some of the iconic heroes of the past and present.

Importance of African American Communities

This quote resonated with me because I have spent over fourteen years actively striving for safe neighborhoods and communities. I believe that all people including African Americans should have quality and safe places to live, work, learn, and play and it should begin at home.

This photograph shows the power of true diversity and how our differences within our culture and our society makes us stronger.

These photographs show the important influences of African Americans in Martha's Vineyard. This reminded me of a trip that I took many years ago when I visited with family and friends. We attended the African American film festival held annually. It was a delightful and unforgettable experience.

The display (below) shows the contributions of African American fisherman in the fishing industry.

On this tour I choose to focus on the exhibits that held a professional and personal connection for me. Exhibits that shows the diversity of African American culture. I plan to go back again because my family and I weren't able to get through the entire museum and it held so much history. I am looking forward to going back and soaking in some more historical information.

I was able to obtain free tickets from the website and the process was super easy. We went during the weekday after rush hour traffic and we were able to obtain street parking off of Independence Avenue and was able to get amazing shots of the Smithsonian Castle and the National Mall. This would be an excellent place to take children for a school, homeschooling, or family field trip. Resources can be obtained on the website and free time entry tickets can be obtained as well, please click on the links below.

Thank you for joining me on this tour and I hope you make a point of visiting and seeing this amazing museum for yourself.

Peace, Love, and Joy.
