Celebrating Faith: Women's History Month

Updated: Mar 8, 2022

I love celebrating women's history month. It's a time of lively celebration and a time of soulful reflection of the accomplishments and achievements of women. This year, I want to personally focus on uplifting, encouraging, and inspiring myself and the women around me. I also want to challenge them as well, because I want them to see themselves like God sees them. It doesn't matter what title you are currently holding or what title or label the world gives you. What truly matters is that you see yourself as the Daughter of the Promise and for me that begins with going back to the Greatest book of all times. The Bible.

One of my favorite bible stories is the story of Mary and Martha. This story for me highlights the importance of the sabbath rest and how important it is for women to leave their responsibilities from time to time to listen to Jesus. In this crazy busy world that we live in we often have to fight to find peace and spiritual rest. It is a much needed necessity.

When I was teaching in the classroom I would often start my day with prayer and inspirational music. I would also take time during my scheduled breaks to meditate and pray. While working in an urban school it was imperative that I took the time to focus and to center myself on Jesus. I would shut my classroom door, turn off the lights, play inspirational music, and pray. This practice has allowed me to continue to have the strength to tackle numerous metaphorical giants in my life. Now as a SAHM I find myself returning to this practice of just taking 5 minutes whether it is in the car or in the bathroom to just stop and pray. This enables me to send up my petitions and to focus on my blessings which helps me to recharge. This has been a life renewal strategy for me. I have not completely mastered it yet and there are many days that I forget. But it quickly becomes evident to those around me that yes...Esther needs to go off and PRAY. To be alone with just herself and God.

Another life renewal strategy that has also strengthen me is praying with others. Collective prayer enables you to feel empowered. My challenge to you this month is to find someone whom you can pray with regularly whether that is one on one with a prayer partner or whether that is with a group at work, school, gym, or church. A safe place that you can share your concerns, your joys, and your sorrows. This practice of meeting regularly to pray and to learn will inspire, uplift, encourage, and propel you forward. This will make you unstoppable against the enemy because Prayer works. Nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 18:27)

The question isn't who's going to let me, it's who is going to stop me. Ayu Rand
