Sacred Moments: How to Maximize the Little Bit of Time You have with your Loved Ones Every Day.

There have been many moments in my life that have been divine or sacred. These are special times in my life that others and myself can recognize as special moments that belong solely to the Lord. They are scattered across my life like shooting stars. These moments are extra special and sometimes rare like savoring a little piece of holiday chocolate after a hard day of grueling work or finding a hidden treasure in an old shoebox. Whenever I get an extra special moment with my family it's like a box of chocolate that I want to savor for as long as heavenly possible. This reminds me of a line in the movie Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolate....." In full honesty, we all have a little bit of Forrest in all of us.

For me that is what Jesus and Life is all about. I can't live without Jesus. I use to think that all I needed to make sense of this crazy life was Jesus and Vino, Jesus and Coffee, or Jesus and Chocolate. But now, it's just Jesus. Simply Jesus. I love the song with the line, "You can have the world but Just give me Jesus." That's all I want everyday for everyone is just simply Jesus.

As Christians we also have more so much more and that is the power of the Holy Spirit who is our helper. Just this morning I was praying very loudly and I mean very loudly for Jesus to help me because I had a lot of little but mighty things to do. And today they all required a phone call or a text. I soon discovered after one of many phone calls and text messages that these tiny things were mighty things in God's Kingdom. This moments are sacred because I was calling or texting my loved ones and I was connecting with the people that I loved and meeting them in wherever way that they needed. That is what this life is all about. That is what Jesus did when He walked the earth and that is who He is today.

I am currently reading John 21 when Jesus appears to the seven disciples after his death. Jesus appears again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee and several disciples were there and among them was Simon Peter. Simon Peter said, "I am going fishing. The other disciples said they would go too. They went out in the boat and didn't catch anything. At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach but the disciples couldn't see who He was. Jesus called out,"Fellows have you caught any fish." They replied, "No." Then, Jesus said, " Throw out your net on the right hand side of the boat and you'll get some." And so they did. They couldn't pull in the net because if was filled with fish. Then, Simon Peter recognized Jesus and said, "It is the Lord."

If you go on to read the entire chapter you will discover that Jesus asked Simon Peter the same question three times which reminds us of how Simon Peter denied Jesus prior to Jesus' death on the cross. Jesus asked Simon Peter the same question three times in three different ways and when Simon Peter gave him an affirmative answer Jesus told him to feed "His sheep."

How can we feed Jesus sheep today? What does that look like today or right now? How can we find the answers that we need? It begins by reading the Bible and praying for wisdom and discernment of how to go about creating, recognizing, or participating in sacred moments that reflect the heartbeat of God. I hope to be able to unpack this idea over the next days, weeks, or months or so as I continue to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction each and every day.

May the peace of the Lord be with you and your loved ones as you continue to trust in Him completely. In Jesus Holy name, I humbly pray. Amen.
