The National Zoo is one of my favorite places to experience fun and nature during the autumn months when the weather is absolutely perfect. My family took the annual hour long trek to D.C. and it was well worth the effort. The autumn foliage, incredible animals, and fresh air made the experience unforgettable. We were able to see the orangutans climb outside up their tower and across their tightrope while we watched holding our breaths below. The sea lion was quite mesmerizing as he independently perform some remarkable moves in the water for his captive audience. My children enjoyed the farm, tiny mammals, and the Amazon birds. It was nice to see a variety of animals and groups represented at the National Zoo as well as lots of singles, couples, and families. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, eating, learning, and having fun this is the place for you. It is an experience you can enjoy time and time again and it has fun for everyone.
