My mama always told me that without a vision the people perish. This biblical quote has stuck with me all my life. It has guided me through elementary school, high school, college, career as an educator, and now through marriage and motherhood. I looking forward to be able to share my mom's promise with my family some day. Often times I see my daughters fighting with one another throughout the day. They are 4 and 2 and already I see some of the pitfalls that they will eventually encounter. Sometimes all I can do is pray, teach, and dance. Then, teach them how to pray, teach, and dance. As a praying wife and mother all I can do sometimes is to pray for God's mercy to rain down upon my children and to cover my children with the blessing of Abraham and the blood of Jesus. You see I have been a rain dancer all of my life. My maternal grandmother taught my mama who taught me how to pray and I have done the same with my children. My paternal grandmother taught my father the same thing. We have instituted prayer multiple times a day within our homeschooling program and sometimes it coincides with our meals and sometimes it doesn't. Praying together restores peace and harmony for us. It reminds us that we are children of God. We may look different, think different, and we may act different, but we are all, God's children. We are the children of the promise. Therefore, there is a certain way that we behave towards each other. There is also a certain way that we carry ourselves into the world. We must remember that the ultimate goal of our lives should be love, and teaching our kids to do the same. Making it our ultimate goal in life takes a lifetime to get it just right. That's why it is so awesome that we have grace and forgiveness in order to help us have reconciliation with our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.
You see when I was young I often would lay in the lawn looking up in the sky dreaming with my two sisters. We dreamt of traveling the world on cruise ships and flying to exotic locations. Our first cruise ship that we went on was with our cousins to the Caribbean. We were terribly frightened and excited at the same time because it was something new, strange, and different. However, God knew before hand what we needed, and why. He planted the seeds of sailing into our hearts using art, nature, music, literature, and lots of long and short church services and church road trips to get us prepared . You see we didn't get to spend a lot of time with our cousins because we went to different churches so as adults we wanted to get the band back together again and get to know each other better. Most of my inspiration of traveling came about because of our families desires to reconnect, my continual need for spiritual rest, and my life long quest to discover my families roots. God has always provided. He has always arranged for a family member to act as a tutor guide to help me walk through this journey called life. I have the incredible honor to be able to call these incredible diverse people not only my friends but my family as well as we all continue to work together to fulfill God's promise.
I hope that God continues to gives me the ability and the foresight to see clearly, and the grace and humility to be able to share these incredible moments with you all. May we all continue to remain steadfast with hearts wide open as we learn how to navigate with others how to be followers of Christ. May the grace and peace of our Lord and Savior continue to light our way. In Jesus Christ Amen.
