How To Live Like a Queen On A Dime

Written by Esther Kamoche Robinson March 28, 2022

1. Use the public library system for your main entertainment needs for your whole family.

2. Become friends with smart people and do what they do. Things like live simply, be a tourist wherever you travel, make lots of real friends, and be apart of history don't just watch it.

3. Go to Church, participate, and support them. Enjoy the year long experiences, activities, and christian education for all ages. They have fun activities for the entire family. (It's so much better than having a gym membership and a streaming subscription.) I believe in people over technology because smart people are smarter than google.

4. When you travel visit your family and friends. They know all the incredible places to visit, stay, and eat. They also know how to get around town easily and how to access low cost fun.

5. Set a vacation, entertainment, and activities budget annually and schedule those important activities for the entire year by March. There are many different tiers to balling or having fun. You can usual find free things in your area to do. My favorite events are the free Christmas tree lighting events and celebrations during the winter and free or low cost music, sports, and theatre events during the warmer months.

6. Develop and stick to a budget, calendar, schedule, and a to-do-list. Keep to your grocery list and shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store. The healthier foods are the "living foods." You are human so it's okay to add 1-2 extra items but don't go overboard. It's okay to return items that you decide against to the cashier. They get it.

7. Ask for help when you need it. Pray everyday and then trust God and do good. (Interesting Fact: Queen Elizabeth prayed on Her knees, drinks tea, loves long walks, and lives on a budget.) Also be a giver and give to your family, local charities and nonprofits that make a difference.

8. Walk like Jesus from town to town...just kidding...walking and cycling is healthy, fun, and low cost.

9. Use a basic weekly menu and then jazz it up with seasonal fruits and veggies, keep snack buying to a minimum. Eat different color fruits and veggies. Simple is best for meeting everyday needs. Splurge on Sundays and Thursdays.

10. Skip the soda and the juice and keep drinking water. It's free and doesn't have any added calories.

This article is inspired by one of my favorite childhood shows Shop Till You Drop, Food Network, and my experience. I worked at a box grocery store when I was in college.
