Esther Kamoche Robinson
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia.
At the age of 21 George Washington led a mission deep in Ohio River Valley to confront the French. In 1754 GW lead a surprised attack upon a small French force and his surrender to French helped spark the French and Indian War.
In 1759 married Martha Washington and although they didn't have any children together they raised two children and four grandchildren from Martha's first marriage at Mount Vernon. He despite being resistant to owning enslaved people over 300 enslaved people lived at Mount Vernon. At the time of His death 123 were freed by his will the rest were owned by his wife. And past down to her children.
From 1759 to American Revolution GW managed his farmlands around Mt. Vernon and served in Virginia House of Burgeses. He was resistant to British rule. He was elected to Continental Congress in 1774 to 1775. In May 1775 representing Virginia as a delegate was elected Commander in Chief of Continental Army. George Washington participated in the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 and when the new constitution was ratified, GW was elected President unanimously.
He served as President of the United States from 1789 to 1797. George Washington was committed to working towards a strong government. He was apart of the Federalist Party. He was neutral when the French Revolution lead to a war between France and England in 1789. He served two terms and declined to serve a third term. He retired in 1797 after delivering his Farewell Address. After a short time later, he died from a throat infection on December 14, 1799 at the age of 67 at Mount Vernon.
