Youtube has beginner videos and resources for learning a new language. Just pick a language and see what resources are available. For adult lessons you can search, the language and the phrase, "for beginners." E.g. Spanish for beginners. For parents search the language and add the words, "for kids". E.g. Swahili for kids or Spanish for kids.
Visit the library and check out books or resources for your selected language and read them orally 3-5 minutes everyday. I like to read the children's foreign language books because they are fun and easy to read.
Practice speaking and listening to your new language about 10 minutes a day. Even if you have to talk to yourself or to a plant.
Take notes when you are learning or reading new words and study your notes.
Create a language dictionary or word bank that includes the word, pronunciation key, and the meaning.
Speak your new language as much as you can and think in the new language as much as you can throughout the day.
Use an app or use google translator to help you learn new words and their pronunciation in your selected language. E.g. Can google Spanish to English translator.
For extra practice make sentences using your word bank and then use google translator to see if you were correct.
Watch videos, listen to music, talk to native speakers as much as you can in your new language.
Visit your local library to see what free additional resources or classes they have to help you learn a new language. Your library card is your passport to learning a new language.
Teach someone else your new language. When you teach someone what you are learning it helps you to learn it even more.
